How To Woo Your Mom On Mother's Day - Under $50

In loving memory of LaVerne Bradley-Williams and Rochelle Bradley-Gales. Who always gave me a reason to become my best self.

Although she doesn’t need it, sometimes, all a mom wants is a simple thank you and acknowledgement for all the sacrifices she made while raising you. There are countless times she put her needs and wants last to make sure you were taken care of. What better way to thank her this Mother's Day than to express your love and appreciation by showing and telling her all the things you remember her doing throughout your life that helped you become the person you are today.

Here’s how to celebrate your mom this Mother’s Day by doing the “Nostalgic Woo” Mother’s Day Edition:

Creat a Collage

Put together a collage of old pictures and things your mom used to say to you. Not only will this help you recapture fond memories and moments you shared together, it can also deepen your bond. Examples to draw from are vacations, birthday’s, holidays, anything where your mom's touch was present.

Tip: Place the collage in a nice picture frame to hang up.

I Remember When

Next, get a piece of paper and at the top, in bold font write I Remember When. Below, in bullet points, write down all the memories you can think of where your mom comforted, encouraged, challenged, corrected, and embarrassed you. As you write these things don’t forget to add how each of these moments made you a better person. Feel free to craft these points on a nice piece of paper and roll it up like a scroll and tie it off with a ribbon. Here’s a quick video on how to create a scroll.

Tip: To elevate the experience write this in your own handwriting. Just make sure it’s legible.

The Finishing Touch

After you’ve completed these items, put them in an ordinary gift box (this will add to the element of surprise as what’s inside the box is not so ordinary) and if possible hand deliver it. Ask your mom to open the box in front of you. Give her a moment to gather herself and take in the experience. As she looks over the collage and reads the scroll, begin to recount these experiences with her. Closely watch the expression on her face as she begins to recall how special these memories are to her.

Now, if you’re like me, you may not be able to celebrate your mom this Mother’s Day. However, doing the I Remember When part of this Woo and reading it out loud as though your mom was present will bring joy to your heart!

Tip: Remember to get a box of tissue, you’ll need it 🙂
